A tragic accident in Brooklyn claimed the life of a 9-year-old boy who was struck by a school bus while on his way to school Friday morning. The incident occurred around 8:15–8:20 a.m. at the intersection of Lee Avenue and Lorimer Street in Williamsburg. According to police, the child was crossing the street when a school bus, making a turn, hit him.
Emergency responders found the boy critically injured, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the bus driver, a 49-year-old man, initially left the scene but later returned after realizing what had happened. No charges have been filed so far, and the investigation is ongoing.
The intersection where the crash took place has raised safety concerns among residents. Locals say the area is busy and lacks proper crosswalk markings following recent construction, making it especially dangerous for pedestrians—particularly children heading to school. Community members and city officials have called for immediate improvements, including clearer street markings and enhanced traffic safety measures, to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
