Pahela Baishakh adds color, glory, vigor and vitality to Bangladesh Canvas
Istanbul: “Pahela Baishakh has added color, glory, vigor and vitality to Bangladesh canvas” the Consul General of Bangladesh in Istanbul, Mohammad Monirul Islam remarked at the celebration of Bangla New Year 1424 on 21 April 2017 at Fatih Municipality Topkapi Social Centre located at the heart of Istanbul. Highlighting the meaning and significance of Pahela Baishakh, he articulated that it has not only strongly etched into our cultural heritage but also contributed towards brightening our image as a vibrant, tolerant, and secular nation.
02. Consul General Mr. Islam thanked the Turkish guests participating in the celebration and hoped that this kind of cultural interactions will further cement the bond of friendship between the peoples of two countries. He also termed the ‘people to people connectivity’ as an important driver towards promoting and strengthening business and economic ties between Bangladesh and Turkey. One of the Turkish businessmen who spoke on the occasion expressed satisfaction over the trade and investment environment in Bangladesh, adding that quality of Bangladesh products are better than many countries in the region including China.
03. A full-fledged cultural programme was staged with the performance of traditional Bangla songs and dances by the members of Bangladesh community living in Istanbul and Bulgaria. Distinguished guests were entertained with authentic Bangladesh cuisines that go well with this particular festival.
04. The programme was organised by Bangladesh Consulate General in Istanbul and attended by a considerable number of Turkish government officials, businessmen and cultural personalities as well as Istanbul based Bangladesh expatriates.
